MARN is created by Marina Patarnello, Amsterdam based ceramist and designer from Italy.
I create one-off pieces and small collection of wheel thrown stoneware tableware. I love making pots which I would like to use in my everyday life.

A slow process

I craft each of my ceramics by hand, using either a potter's wheel or hand building techniques. After a piece is shaped, it dries for a day before being trimmed. It then needs to dry completely before the first firing.
Once the piece is fully dry, it undergoes its first firing, known as bisque firing, which takes two days and reaches temperatures up to 900°C. The next step is glazing. The clay, now fired once, is glazed and fired again at 1220°C. The result is a functional and food-safe piece of ceramic that is designed to last for many years to come.

Care guide

I always hand wash my handmade pottery and tend not to use them in microwaves or ovens. All of my work is made with stoneware clay and fired to the highest stoneware temperatures with food-safe glazes to ensure the most durable, functional pieces possible.
